It’s funny to think that society has reached the point where we are literally calling trash bags “trash”! It seems like we have a strange sense of humour when it comes to waste and pollution. After all, what is the purpose of these little plastic vessels if not for carrying away our garbage? We laugh at how easily people forget about their responsibility to properly dispose of their trash and take care of the environment.
Sometimes it feels like an endless cycle: using up too many resources, creating more trash than can be recycled or reused, throwing away what cannot be saved… rinse and repeat! All while being reminded by environmentalists that this pattern needs to change before it’s too late. But still, every time you reach into your kitchen cabinet for a fresh bag, there they are—a reminder that no matter how hard we try, humans just aren’t great at taking care of our planet. So yes, all trashbags are indeed…just plain old “TRASH”!
1. We can all do our part to reduce waste and save the environment by saying “no” to plastic bags. It’s time to start packing a reusable bag when you go shopping. If everyone swapped out their plastic for a more sustainable option, like cloth or mesh, we’d be well on our way to making a huge impact!
2. Recycling your trashbags is also an option – although it may not sound as glamorous as refusing them altogether! Re-purposing those pesky bags into cute little plant holders or book covers could add some much needed personality to your living space while still doing some good for the environment.
3. Even if you’re not in the market for something new and exciting, just remember that there are many ways to cut down on your disposable product usage; bring your own mug when grabbing coffee, say no straws with drinks, use metal lunch containers instead of plastic baggies – every bit helps! Plus it saves money in the long run too 😉
It’s no secret that disposing of our garbage properly is a responsibility that we all share. But the challenge isn’t always as straightforward as it seems! It can be difficult to determine which trashbag should hold our banana peel, or whether a plastic bottle belongs in recycling or not. There are times when it seems like there ought to be an app for sorting out our rubbish… and maybe one day there will be!
In the meantime, if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by the task of correctly disposing your trash, just remember this mantra: “all trashbags are trash… except for the ones marked ‘recycle’!” You may think it’s silly, but with a little bit of effort and dedication, you’ll soon become an expert at responsibly throwing away your garbage – because let’s face it: laughing about it helps too!
