Using subterfuge, an assassin draws a bolt from his quiver and loads his crossbow. Sanguine blood dripped from his forehead as he furtively bespoke his jocose pet sugar glider. Loquaciously he uses chicanery to entice the insouciant sugar glider into surreptitiously riding on the bolt. The sugar glider was no fool. He could see the devious look in the assassin’s eye, and he knew exactly what the man was planning. But he also knew that he was the only one who could get close enough to the fortress to gather intelligence. So, despite his better judgment, he agreed to go along with the plan. The assassin loaded his crossbow and took aim at the fortress gate. The sugar glider rode atop the bolt, holding on tight as it flew through the air. He could see the guards on the other side of the gate, alerted by the sound of the crossbow being fired. But before they could react, he was already inside, leaping off of the bolt and into the shadows. He quickly made his way to a vantage point where he could survey the layout of the fortress. It was well-defended, but he could see a weak spot in the defenses that he might be able to exploit. He would have to be quick, though, before the guards realized that he was inside and came looking for him. He waited until nightfall, when all was quiet within the fortress walls. Then he made his move. He crept through the shadows, avoiding detection until he reached the weak spot in the defenses. From there, it was a simple matter to make his way inside and begin gathering intelligence on the enemy’s activities. Now he had to find the target. He had never seen her before, but he knew she would be well-protected. He would have to be careful. He finally found her, surrounded by bodyguards. She was a beautiful woman, but there was no time to admire her. He had a job to do. He waited until she was alone for a moment, and then he struck, sinking his teeth into her neck. She screamed, but it was too late. The poison coursing through her veins would kill her within minutes. The sugar glider scurried away as the bodyguards rushed to their mistress’s side. His job was done.
